Massachusetts makes new changes to Maternity and Parental Leave, Fair Employment Poster and Earned Sick Time Posters
Massachusetts, are you up to date on the new maternity and parental leave poster, as well as the Fair Employment and Earned Sick Time Poster Change?
The state of Massachusetts has updated the maternity and parental leave poster. This change is applicable to both men and women. Employers are now required to provide leave to both men and women, they are also now required to provide job protection to workers during the birth or adoption of a child.
The Domestic Bill of Rights has changed the information with the Massachusetts fair employment poster. This new law prohibits discrimination and harassment against domestic workers, based on race, color, religious creed, national origin, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, genetic information, ancestry, age, or disability, or for any other certain reason. Sex discrimination includes sexual harassment and pregnancy discrimination.
The Earned Sick Time poster has been updated by the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office. Under this new law workers will now receive pay for every one hour of sick leave for the 30 hours worked, with a maximum of 40 hours of sick leave per hour. With this new change in law employers are required to provide these changes if they have eleven or more employees, if employers have fewer than eleven employees, then they must provide unpaid sick time. Employees are required to post a notice informing their employees of these changes, and their rights.
This change is mandatory, and effects all businesses in Massachusetts. All state posters must be updated by the employers. GET YOUR NEW POSTERS HERE
